2023 End-Season Ramblings |
|
Hello to all of Saltwater Cowboys' loyal followers!
To
those of you who didn't make it out or had to cancel last season due to
the fire and road closure, I understand completely and hope we can get
together in 2024. I'm planning to head out to the coast around the end
of May, and really hoping to recoup at least some of the trips that we
lost. I am fully set up for offshore halibut now as well, and we've had
great success catching them so far. (see the pics, below) The
largest halis landed to date are 129cm and 122cm, or 67 and 45 lbs
respectively, and since the limits went from 133 cm to 126cm last season
we've been very close to the maximum allowable size each of the last
two years. We caught several in the 12 to 25 lb range as well, which
made for some very happy guests!
As for salmon, the average size
has increased substantially with the Alaska closures, and we've brought
several fish over 20 lbs into the boat. Ling Cod are getting bigger
every season as well, especially since the Canadian Princess boats shut
down operations a few years back, so our guests are taking loads of
ground fish home with their Coho and Chinook.
I'm truly looking
forward to seeing many of our regulars back next season, and look
forward to fighting and landing some big fish together.
Book now for an amazing fishing experience in 2024!
"Tight Lines to All!"

First Ukee trip of the season at the end of July. Quite a bit late, but successful nonetheless!
